Which Business Degrees Are Worth It in 2020 | Business Majors Ranked - Best to Worst

Majoring in business gives you a very wide variety of options. In this video, I am sharing my opinion on the best business majors vs the worst business majors you can get in 2020. From an mis degree to a business management degree, I cover 9 of the top business majors and share my honest opinion on them - which business majors are worth the student loan debt ? Which business major gets you the best jobs ? etc. Most of you know that studying business is already a great route, but I'd hate for y'all to waste your $ on a college degree that is not worth it as much. Like I always say though, do what's best for you and follow your passion at the end of the day!

Which major are you most interested in?

1. Accounting and Finance (specialized field for stable jobs)
2. MIS (management information system, coding + busniess, very versitile degree)
3. supply chain management (Amazon has good supply chain management so your items will deliver within 1-3 business days)
4. International business ( good major to couple with a language major/minor)
5. Marketing (you get good pay by working in good tech companies, not so good pay if not, mediocre degree)
6. Management (very general)
7. Business and Administration (super general, maybe a waste of time to learn about general business)
8. Human Resources (HR is a great position but no HR degree is needed to get into the field)
9. Entrepreneurship (you can't learn this in a classroom, you can only learn it by doing it, so it is a very useless degree)

Thanks for the info Lynette!

Currently in my 3rd year in Finance.. I’ve interned for a large tech company in their Finance program & I have an internship next summer for a large consulting company. Finance definitely opens a lot of doors & is one of the reasons I chose the major.

I'm currently doing an International based degree in Business Administration and the degree is like accounting, finance, logistics, supply chain management etc. It doesn't limit you to basic office knowledge. The video was great :)

I have a supply chain/logistics degree and I believe it’s a very useful yet very underrated business degree. Supply chain/ logistics jobs are always going to be there. These jobs for the most part pay above average. With the move away from traditional brick and mortar stores, these jobs are especially important in the digital age of online shopping that we live in. Supply chain is so important that it’s the reason why Apple is delaying so many new products this year. Good logistical planning can mean the difference between gaining/losing customers or good/poor stock performance or having/not having a competitive advantage over the competition.

My mom was a manager in HR and she had an incomplete English Degree so I agree - you don't necessarily need a degree in HR (or a degree at all) to get a job in that field.

Good video! I will say accounting/finance is usually grouped with economics as well. Those are the three that I see together alot.

I am currently doing my A levels, I fully agree with you, life is pretty short to waste time learning things in university which we can do on your own. Many too successes of the world didn't even finish university but still made their way though life with their own research and pursuit of knowledge. Thanks.

Thanks for giving me the confidence to take the leap. I'm gonna start my major in IB and specialize in marketing.

In my view all business degrees are great and amazing (except entrepreneurship). With any business major you can do a lot of things! I am currently doing undergrad in Business administration with specialization in Banking and Finance. After that I'm planning to do MBA in either Healthcare Management or Supply Chain Management.

I am majoring in Business Admin but I have a minor in Hospitality and plan to go into the hospitality industry and feel that having that Business major gave me a bit more of an advantage. Although I do understand I could have gotten management or even entrepreneurship.

I can’t decide whether I want to pursue Marketing, MIS or IB…. I’m interested in the digital side of marketing, technical side of MIS, and the global side of IB plus I’m fluent in Chinese…

Accounting is the most employable. But satisfaction is low. The people I see with greatest satisfaction has been supply chain. While accounting majors become accountants (usually) those in supply chain have various titles. They don't find jobs as quickly out the gate as accountants but their starting pay seems to be higher. MIS is the other one.

Thank you for sharing your opinions and experience. These videos are particularly important for me as I'm choosing a major right now. I'm currently considering MIS, Marketing, and Economics.

Good vid, I think supply chain mgmt is underrated. Think about the success of Amazon, all of this relies on: warehouse capacity, forecasting, demand planning, ramps and peaks etc all of this is supply chain. Salary for this type of professional is very good. With manufacturing costs being at an all time low, producibility and lead times are going to be what companies want

I totally agree I didn't waste my time getting a Business Management Associate Degree, I just got the Business Management Certificate. The certificate was quicker minus 3 more class's I would need for the degree.

Currently work in accounting, ( private sector) I love it because you can transition to operations management / supply chain easily as you work very closely together, definitely a lot of career opportunities in both accounting & the supply chain. ( In the private sector )
