Augustinian theology plus Calvinistic Theology, plus Lutheran theology and alongside Bible translations have formulated the doctrine of "Original Sin" (inherited) which leads to the doctrinal belief human beings have a "sinful nature".

“Now if a person sins and does any of the things [a]which the Lord has commanded not to be done, though he was unaware, he is still guilty and shall bear his punishment." Leviticus 5:17

It’s cringe when Jay chooses to be annoyed at people he’s not talking to and ignores someone thanking him for clarifying something.

I'm not a Calvinist but the Bible clearly teaches we all have a naturally sinful nature in our current fallen state.

Mark 10:18
And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.

Dyer, on the other hand, claims the exact opposite: That we are all born with good natures.
I'll leave it up to the viewer to choose whether you believe Jesus Christ or Jay Dyer on YT.

For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find. For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice. Now if I do what I will not to do, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me.

So what is the Old Man and the New Man (Rom 6:6; Col 3:10)? What is, as in Adam all die; that I'm a sinner in Adam by birth and by practice (1Cor 15:5; Rom 5:12); What is it to be born again and made a new creation (2Cor 5:17; John 3:7)? Not a Calvinist here BTW. Though I don't believe God sends anyone to hell that is not morally culpible, scripture makes it clear that the corruption of Adam has been inherited to all the Sons of Adam and my only escape is to become a Child of God by new life through the New Man, The Second Adam, The Son of God (1Cor 15:45; 1John 5:12).

All denominations practically attest to the same, but the difference comes in understanding not in function. To the best i can understand.

Very well stated. We are guilty for our own sins.

For the natural man is an enemy to God, and has been from the fall of Adam, and will be, forever and ever, unless he yields to the enticings of the Holy Spirit, and putteth off the natural man and becometh a saint through the atonement of Christ the Lord, and becometh as a child, submissive, meek, humble, patient, full of love, willing to submit to all things which the Lord seeth fit to inflict upon him, even as a child doth submit to his father."

1:05 "Desires themselves are not sin"

What did Jesus say about lust again?

If "flesh" in the spiritual sense, as oppose to merely physical bodies, does not mean human nature - ie humans AS THEY ARE
OF THEMSELVES then what can it mean? do we revert back to th gnostic view of flesh as equalling the body?

such a view is pure gnosticism.

a person who denies he IS OF A SINFUL nature is self righteous with no selfawareness.

andmo amount of playing with myseries of ontology (states o being andrefering to essences and things) will avoid this

People like Dyer who make this argument are apparently unaware that Augustine thought the original sin in human nature was the concupiscence of the flesh (Cf. Rom 6:12), and he said this was an **accident** in nature, not a substance in itself. And if saying that human nature is sinful is Calvinist, then let's all join together in imputing Calvinism to St. Symeon the New Theologian:

"That saying that calls no one sinless except God, even though he has lived only one day on earth, does not refer to those who sin personally, because how can a one-day old child sin? But in this is expressed that mystery of our Faith, that ***human nature is sinful from its very conception***. God did not create man sinful, but pure and holy. But since the first-created Adam lost this garment of sanctity, not from any other sin but from pride alone, and became corruptible and mortal, all people also who come from the seed of Adam are participants of the ancestral sin from their very conception and birth. He who has been born in this way, even though he has not yet performed any sin, is already sinful through this ancestral sin." (St. Symeon the New Theologian, “The First Created Man”, Homily 37: The Ancestral Sin and our Regeneration, p. 70).

The neo-Pelagianism in pop-Orthodoxy needs to come to an end.

Where in scripture does it say that Mary was sinless? Also, if desire itself is not sin, wouldnt you say that lust itself is a desire, which is in itself sinful? If I desire evil, what does that say about my heart? Thats what I dont understand, would love to hear some responses

Those that are dead in sins and transgressions don't have a sin nature? They have no faith, and therefore can commit only sin have no sin nature? Or Ephesian 2:8? Or Genesis 6:5?

What do you mean by nature? We have two natures, a nature of flesh and a nature of Spirit. One is sinful, the other isn't.

Ephesians 4:22-24
[22]That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
[23]And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
[24]And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

Only someone who isn't saved and doesn't know or believe the Bible would think that people don't have a sinful nature.

I don't want to get slammed for misquoting so I'll just ask; Did Jay really just say that "reformers taught that God gives people a sinful nature."? I'd like to see some documentation on that. Reformers taught that the sinful nature comes as a result of the fall. The sinful nature is called 'the flesh.' Galatians 5:17. Calvin and Luther didn't teach that wanting to eat and have sex were inherently sinful. What are the sources that support these claims?

Ephesians 2:3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were *by nature the children of wrath* even as others.
