Just in case you are having issues, GE XMFE new filter doesnt have generic options yet. Only the XMF refrigerators do. So if you are putting generic xmf or ge xmf filters in, it will not work.

The instructor is saying to rotate the filter counterclockwise, but is doing it a clockwise. Funny !!!!

Unfortunately, I also struggled with the filter problem for days before I found the solution! GE solved it with a chip, so that only its own filters can be used, it cannot be replaced with a filter from another party, only the one in which the chip was installed! (rough) So the XWFE types have a chip, while the XWF type does not! The only solution is to buy a GE chipped filter, which unfortunately costs approx. $50! The aftermarket, but replaceable XWF type is not good, because it does not have a chip!

You say counter clockwise and rotate clockwise on the video. Then you say clockwise and rotate counter clockwise. So should I do as you say or as you do?

We changed our water filter on 4-4-2024 and it is 4-23-24 and water flow is slow. Filter status is at 75 percent. Why is this happening after 19 days? Help!!!

You turned it clockwise to remove it, or are you in the southern hemisphere?

I recommend filling up the cup of water till you completely get all of the air out of the line. It will probably be about 15 cups but you should then be good to go.
