How will China respond to Russia's war in Ukraine?

President Xi Jinping and President Putin seem to be presenting a united front to the Western world.

But will Russia's war in Ukraine change that, and how will China react?

China and Russia are not allies, they are just 'friends for convenience'. China would never dream of going back to the Mao days, compared to Russia whose okay to experience again the retro USSR ambiance.

China's already on Russia's side as is India. In fact, if it weren't for pressure on small countries by the West to vote with it, there'd be a lot more countries voting with Russia. They've been corralled into voting with the West against their will and reason by intense economic pressure.
