DIE ANOTHER DAY | Bond meets Jinx

“Magnificent view.” Bond (Pierce Brosnan) meets Jinx (Halle Berry) for the first time in DIE ANOTHER DAY (2002). The scene wasn’t actually filmed in Cuba but in Cadiz, Spain. Costume designer Lindy Hemming said: “We wanted to pay homage to the Ursula Andress bikini and we came up with this electric orange, sexy bikini and a beautifully crafted diving belt.”

this is actually a well played scene. Both actors really flowed well and the subtexts accentuated. The cheesiness of the dialogue is the point, it's the subtext and non verbal play that drove it. Well done. I've never appreciated this scene till now.

God this dialogue. I can look past the flaws of Tomorrow Never Dies and World is Not Enough because Brosnan's so good in the role, but even he couldn't save this one.

I remember that after this movie there was a lot of talk about giving Halle Berry as Jinx her own 00 type spin-off. Shame that they never pulled it off.

The ornithologist part is significant because Ian Fleming chose the name for his titular character from the name of the author of a book about birds in the Caribbean.

Jinx is one of my favourite Bond girls! Shes pretty underrated and overlooked. She’s tough, smart and beautiful! You cant blame Halle Berry for the bad writing nor for the material she was given to work with in this movie!
