James Bond (Pierce Brosnan) in his Aston Martin Vanquish duels with Zao (Rick Yune) in the Jaguar XKR on the frozen lake in DIE ANOTHER DAY. Yune said, “You have these two powerful machines that are built for battle, but they’re facing off against each other as if in a ballet, dancing on ice.” Directed by Lee Tamahori with Halle Berry as Giacinta 'Jinx' Johnson, as seen in this scene.

Ah this was the bond film I grew up with.

People may dislike it, but it will always have a special place in my heart.

Brosnan is so cool and bad ass in this sequence. The little expressions he pulls, or doesn't pull, are fantastic. He gets a lot of stick these days and I don't really know why. He had the dry humour of Connery, the ruthlessness of Dalton, the sauveness of Moore, the toughness of Craig etc. I always found his films an enjoyable watch and a nice bit of escapism, with something the newer films are lacking - FUN.

Also the sound of the Aston's engine is GLORIOUS. 😍

Always will have a soft spot for this chase scene: If memory serves, this is the only time Bond and the Villain were on equal footing, both driving gadget laden cars.

Probably the only sequence in the movie where the over-the-top tech and gadgets didn't feel so excessive. I especially like how Bond used the ejector seat to unflip the Vanquish.

It's 2020 and I still wouldn't mind driving either one of these cars.

The bit where he activates the traction spikes only makes you realise it would have been impossible to drive on that surface all that time without them.

The car camouflage is still one of the coolest Bond gadgets

To me, this is the best Bond car chase. Everything from the action to the music to the fact both characters get a sleek gadget-laiden car.

I remember this part! It is superbly cool to see the invisible effect on the car, back then.

I loved this car chase scene a lot as a child. As an adult, I find the car chase to be quite funny. Each car's gadgets and weaponry is unnecessarily high-tech, both being used to battle with each other without being excessive but yet is so absurd.

As a kid, I was obsessed with this scene

Just as wealthy old dudes won't recognise he's being hustled out of his fortune by someone younger and sexier than him, outrageous childhood nostalgia refuses to allow me to see how ridiculous this car chase is. It is outstanding and I love it, and I can't say anything more than that

Me: 007, you really know that the chandelier was made of diamonds?
James Bond: indeed. It matched with his sparkling personality.

This movie reeks of early 2000s aesthetic

After watching the Boring SPECTRE Rome car chase, watching this was actually a relief

This movie established the principle that Jaguars are the preferred car of Bond villians.

This movie will always have a special place in my heart.
Like, I always laugh at him fucking flipping the car using the ejector seat to dodge an incoming missile, only to then give a slight nod the audience saying: "Yes. I am _that_ cool."

I can’t imagine what it took to create that ice building and scenes inside with all actually seeming realistic 👏🏻🎥👏🏻
