Why Do I Get 502 Bad Gateway?

Why do I get 502 Bad Gateway?
That error occurs when the server gets an invalid upstream server request.
I thought that the 400 bad request error was confusing, but I cannot even understand your explanation.
Let’s say you’re accessing something through a server.
That’s pretty much all internet access.
When the server you’re connected to tries to access another server in the chain, the 502 bad gateway error occurs when the next server in the chain cannot fulfill the request or gives an invalid response.
So the 502 bad gateway is like the 400 error when it comes from the next PC in line.
If you’re lucky, it is simply because the website is overloaded.
I’m overloaded getting the error all the time.
If you’re unlucky, your browser has cached that error page as the standard page for the website. Reload the page by hitting control-F5.
If in doubt, refresh.
It is certainly less painful than if in doubt, reboot.
Refreshing the page does not always fix it.
So clear your cookies and then go to the web page.
I wonder if the problem is the website.
Yes, it could be generating 502 errors due to PHP programming errors.
I do not know how long to wait for that to be fixed.
Try waiting ten minutes and trying again. That’s long enough for the average internet user to give up and move on, freeing up server connections for you.
What else could I do?
You can check user forums for the website and see if someone else is reporting that the site is down.
Assuming there is a user forum. Or that I can find it.
So try a different browser, in case the 502 error is caused by your browser type or a saved page you did not quite flush out.
As long as I do not have to flush the DNS.
That’s a last gasp, but it is something you could try. It is better to try a web-based proxy server like going to it from another site that anonymizes your origins.
That’s sure to get the NSA on my case.
Perhaps, but it gets you around ISP blocks that could generate 502 bad gateway errors.
