The Rise of Skywalker's awful fight choreography

Who the hell thought this was a good idea?
What is even going on in this fight scene?

Note: I've been made aware of a mistake I did.
I pointed out how Rey already knows when an enemy is going to shoot her before they do so.
Jedis can do predict moves before they are executed so it's not a choreography error lol

Thank you all for commenting and interacting with this video!
I'm trying to read to every single comment and reply as best as I can!

Remember, if you like this movie and/or this fight scene, that's great!
This is just my take on it on an attempt to have fun with a negative movie experience

I'll be glad to respond to each comment if I have anything to say about it, and I'll do my best to keep it civil!
I don't want to argue with anyone, just comparing thoughts and tastes :)
Excuse me if that's difficult to convey through simple text.

May the force be with you all

I’m surprised none of the guards accidentally shot Palpatine out of sheer incompetence.

The only way to forgive this is to reveal that Rey passively emits a Force power that causes severe brain damage in everyone around her.

Oh man, that scene where Ben just turns his back to the guards and waits for them to aim for his sword is hilarious

Look, man

That ceiling had been giving that guard a hard time for years and, knowing he was gonna die, he had to take it out as his last act.

The 5 guards who weren’t there before:

“some how 5 guards returned”

The dude shooting the ceiling was hilarious. Whoever was in charge of that part wanted this movie to fail🤣

Sounds like something an ACTUAL MYTH would include: She was so skilled she got 10 kills while fighting 6 soldiers.

You're missing the reason behind him shooting at the ceiling.
He's a guard, right? Clearly he saw his comrades fall so his default thought process is "must've been the wind" so he took care of that imminent threat, duh 🙄💅🏻

It’s embarrassing that a goddamn Lego game did this scene better. A GODDAMN LEGO GAME!!!

At this point I'm still confused about why they didn't just give Rey a double lightsaber from the start. She literally uses a staff in the first movie of the sequels, so it would make sense basing her fighting style off something she is familiar with.

But nope, another wasted opportunity to add to the pile.

they tried to spice up the saber combat just like how the prequels did, but they (THE SEQUELS) failed horribly

I think the most baffling part of this is the guards who are just standing still at ease during some shots. You would think when filming this, you would avoid that stance at all times because it's the ONE way to look completely unnatural. How did this get by the choreography directing??

The sequels overall look visually stunning, but when you take a minute to properly look at what's actually happening... oh no.

The fact that the Emperor’s Royal Guard are supposed to be the best of the best and they miss at point blank really shows how bad they scripted these fights.

What I find the worst about the Ben fight is that it is choreographed like he's fighting random guards, just like Rey. But those are his former pupils, his former friends he's killing. The choreography doesn't reflect that at all.

I remember reading how Hayden Christiansen and Ewan McGregor spent months learning sword fighting and fencing to do their final fight in Revenge of the Sith.

Disney had MORE than enough funding to give Daisy Ridley and Adam Driver the same treatment. Maybe even surpass them.

It just breaks my heart.

I literally DIED laughing when I saw the guy obliterating the ceiling. Like "f8ck Rey, I'm gonna intimidate her with a warning shot or smth"

Prequels : known for awesome lightsaber battles
Original trilogy : emotional battles
Sequels: puts lightsaber behind his back and they hit it

Feel bad for Daisy and especially Adam. Both great actors who are capable of good choreography, robbed because of shit writing and choreography directors and everything else.
