Whilst the film had a lot of glaring flaws, this scene is one of the few I have absolutely no issue with. The galaxy coming together to finally stick it to the Sith, with ships from nearly every facet of Star Wars all to the glorious tune of John Williams' magnificent music!

This is a great scene, but I really think they should have done an "Endgame" on it, and had a longer reveal
Just as he's about to give in to despair, Poe hears his radio crackle and hears
"Red squadron Standing by"
"Blue Squadron, reporting in"
"Gold Squadron, Armed and ready"
"ROGUE Squadron present, Corran Horn commanding"
" This is Tycho Celcu, WRAITH Squadron standing by"
"This is Bravo Leader of the Naboo Fighter Corps"
and so on (with a shout out to every expanded universe character you can fit in, Galen Marek, Kyle Katarn, Cal Kestis, Dash Rendar), then GENERAL Wedge Antilles give the best line tehre is in Star Wars
"Lock S foils in attack position" - and you have literally a thousand fighters of every type, from X wings down to old ARC 170s fold out their wings and charge into battle."

I believe that the scene could have had a better impact on the audience if it had depicted a series of individuals communicating and gradually realizing that the plan had potential. This could have been similar to the scene in Independence Day where various global air forces came together with American's strategy. Before the Resistance took off, a sequence of cuts to different people across the galaxy embracing hope in the plan and deciding to join the cause would have built anticipation, making this scene way better.

The fact that people from across the galaxy are coming together to finish what Obi-Wan started is a good way to end off the Star Wars trilogy

It breaks my heart that Wedge's son-in-law (Snap, read the aftermath trilogy + resistance reborn for explanation, they're awesome books) is shot down 30 seconds before Wedge could have been there to help

Say what you will about the movie, but this scene was awesome and inspiring seeing the whole galaxy band together to show the first order that they no longer have power over them.
