WOW!!! Lea Salonga has been a name in my comments since I started my channel, and while I really love her in Disney movies, Mulan & Aladdin, but I didn't know much about her outside of that! I'd heart of "Miss Saigon" but i'd never listened to the music, or seen the show, so this was absolute eye-opening and such an intense experience! lea salonga originated the title role of kim in "miss saigon." for her performance as kim, she won the laurence olivier award in london (she was 19 years old then) and the tony award in new york (she was 20 years old). she was the first asian stage actress to win a tony award.

Lea Salonga's portrayal of Kim in Miss Saigon was back in 1989 and I was a college freshman then. I love her achievements especially on the Laurence Olivier Awards and subsequently in the 1990 Tony Awards as Best Actress In A Musical. She and the rest of Pinoy artists who all played key roles in that musical paved the way for the Philippines to be reckoned as a harvest ground of world class talents. I was fortunate I was among the 10, 000 who first recieve the double cassette tape edition of the full sound track of Ms Saigon

I was fortunate enough to see Lea perform this role on Broadway. It was spellbinding and I fell in love with her (and the show, Miss Saigon) immediately.
