Something that I love so much about these movies is the direct references/loyalty to the original text from Tolkien. Like they quote him word-for-word countless times. Really shows the devotion to the source material

For the people who are saying why Legolas couldn't read the script in the door: It's because, the language that Celebrimbor and Narvi used in the door was the First Age Sindarin which Legolas a Third age Mirkwood elf can't read or speak; what he speak is a modern Sindarin.

For those saying is Quenya, is not. By the time they made the door Elves were already speaking Sindarin, even the High Elves Noldors.

When I was in high school, these kids in my class who were pretty much the class clowns barred their friend out of the computer room while the teacher was gone. Three of them were holding the door from the inside and the kid outside was trying desperately to get back in before the teacher saw him standing in the hallway. Super randomly, one of the kids holding the door yells "SPEAK FRIEND, AND ENTER!"

I'm like the only one watching this whole thing go down and the kid outside who is begging his friends to let him in and yanking on the door suddenly goes dead serious before reciting the password exactly like Gandalf with a blank, expressionless face. His friends all let him in instantaneously and nobody knew what the fuck even happened besides myself and whatever other nerds must have been in that room.
