Character Creator is an incredibly powerful and versatile tool that allows you to create an unlimited variety of game characters for your Unreal game project. This 5-part tutorial series starts off by creating a character from scratch in Character Creator, then proceeds to show you how to animate both the face and body in iClone. From there, you'll learn about the correct import/export settings for getting your character and game motions into Unreal. Finally, the last tutorial tackles the task of getting your character to move around in your game project and animate both body and face at the press of a button.

This tutorial is Part 2 of the series, and walks you through the process of creating custom animations in iClone using pre-made motions as well as a variety of other tools. You'll learn about Direct Puppet, Motion Layer keyframe editing, and constraints on different body parts.

9:05 Testing Motions in 3DXchange
11:23 Customizing a Walk Animation
15:32 Customizing Root Motions

Thanks for a great tutorial. I've worked in CrazyTalk Animator for a while now, but have just taken the plunge in to iClone. Your tutorials simplify the process so I can follow along step by step and get started right away. Great job.

Hello there - How do I lock - the hand to the hip please? So that the hand doesn't go through the body :)

You absolutely do not need to use that messy and convoluted process to get rid of root motion.
Literally all you have to do is right-click on your clip in the timeline and select "Reset pivot".

I need your help please, I've followed these tutorials exactly and when I import the animations to Unreal 4 I get this error "animation does not contain the root track". It's like it's saying there's no animation on the root bone or something. Can you please help me with this?

When I copy the 1st keyframe in the motion layer and paste it at the end of the clip for the seemless loop it doesn't quite match. You can check this by clicking on the first keyframe and then the final copied keyframe, they are slightly out. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong? I am using iClone 6.42.2728.1

Aren't you able to attach the holster to the character itself? so when it animates, the collision blocks her hand from passing through?
