You're comparing neandarthals with modern homo sapiens. You're forgetting the time gap. If they actually existed among us currently, they would be living similar lifestyles, with different cultures based on the country they lived in and most importantly they would face extreme racial discrimination throughout time because of their looks. When homo sapiens couldn't find something to feel superior about, they started judging people based on their religion and color. Imagine, almost looking like an ape would get you where?
The inbreeding youre talking about, wasn't just a neandarthals thing, even homo sapiens did that during that time they existed. We didn't get here because someone always presented a new chick to our ancestors out of nowhere to mate with.

I imagine one of the pros to me having a Neanderthal girlfriend would be that she’d be insanely tough, given that Neanderthals were tougher than humans, she could easily protect from people who would try to hurt me.

My youngest sister did one of those Ancestry DNA tests. Turns out she has more neanderthal DNA than 85% of their customers who did the test. Yeah, I teased her about it. What's weird is that we are genetically Central and South Asian and I didn't think we would have that much neanderthal in us.
