"I made that mistake in my 20s and 30s. I was so consumed by work that I did nothing else. It's one of my big regrets in life. I found it very hard to go back and pick up what I had left along the way." - Piyush Gupta, DBS CEO.

Reflecting on the lessons he's learnt, Piyush stressed the importance of pursuing one's interests, cultivating friendships and communities so that in times of anxiety, one has anchors to hold on to.

He was speaking at CPF Board's “Ready for Life” Opening Forum 2022. Piyush recounted a pivotal event when he 40 years old – he had quit banking to start a dotcom business, but was unsuccessful and eventually returned to banking, his first love. He shared three key takeaways from the experience.

What are some of your lessons learnt from past failures?
