On Thursday December 15, nurses in the UK will go on strike for the first time, with union representatives saying they have been “forced into” action. Staff in England, Wales and Northern Ireland -- but not Scotland -- will walk out on December 15 and 20, after the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) union said the government had turned down an offer of negotiations. The nurses’ action joins a number of strikes this month, with rail workers and ambulance drivers walking out after UK inflation hit a 41-year high of 11.1 percent in October on soaring energy and food bills.

Hmm, something happened in the late 90’s which caused this greater need for services. 🤔

they can also earn more money working for an agency per shift covering rather than working plus paying the agency to send them there maybe if that loophole wasnt there things wouldnt be as bad

Honestly, who will notice? Any time i visited people in the hospital I had to scour the halls for a nurse to tell us how they were doing and they were usually gathered at a desk chitchatting about none work stuff while the patients I visited hadnt seen them since breakfast time.
Nurses now are not what they used to be. Ever since they gave them degrees many seem to think they are too good to look after patients or get their hands dirty.

This strike is amusing. The NHS, free at the point of delivery 🤣. Not free, and does not deliver.

MPs saying these pay rises are "unaffordable" and "unrealistic" when the average MP wage is £84, 133 per annum with expenses covered. Disgusting and hypocritical establishment.

If you strike in a sector with a duty of care you should be sent to prison. Doesnt matter if you're a nurse or a farm stockman. If something vulnerable relies on you, striking is nothing short of criminal. Jail. Mandatory 2 years
