When doimg the popcorn ceilings, keep in mind old houses like your parents used asbestos! Definitely get a cheap test from Home Depot or Lowes before tackling that to save your lungs. If it is asbestos def get professional help or do A LOT of research on how to contain the dust and protect yourself!

No one in germany has closets 😂 That's what wardrobes are for! Gives you more options for how you arrange a room

Hell yes I would buy a house without closets, because where I come from built in storage is very unusual. So buying a house with closets would most likely end in having a house with a lot of roughed up old IKEA furniture you now have to get rid off.

We did. It was an 1874 property in Troy, NY. My wife and I agreed on where closets would go. I did the rough and my wife did the finish. Not all new closets had doors when we moved to senior living 34 years later.

Closets are an American thing that came out mostly in the housing boom after WW2. If you buy a house in Europe, or anywhere else, you're unlikely to find closets. They buy wardrobes to store clothes.

I'm designing my retiring home. I'm not putting in closets. They are a waste of space. They limit your furniture layout options. I like instead built-ins or armoires.

Funny, the concept of "no closets" is so American. Most houses in the UK and Europe don't have closets. We use movable furniture wardrobes. So of course we would buy a house with no closets.

Default American thinking. Almost all the world outside of US doesn't come with built-in storage.
That is so, so wild to me. Like, imagine even considering passing out on a home just because of no built-in storage??

I would have left the wardrobe and worked around it. Making it part of the design.

In France it's very usual to have no closet so I'm not choc. But the house is gorgeous

They didnt have closets back then. They didnt have the amount of clothes we have today either.
They had chests and cupboards, and armoires.

I hate closets! I never hang my clothes. I like to fold my clothes instead of hanging them. I have one small dresser that's about 3 feet wide and 5ft tall. That fits mine and my husband clothes.
