There was no help at the time. A good friend of mine died from Aids in the late 1980s 😢. Freddie left everything to the love of his life - Mary Austin his partner before he came out as gay and the only person he said he could ever truly trust.

Fun facts: did you know that when this illness was discovered? Scientist originally called it grid. (Gay related immune deficiency) on account that the out break came from the gay scene, it wasn’t till a few years later when they renamed the AIDS once they understood more about it.

The first tests started in 1984 where you could be tested for HIV / ADIS, however at this point there was no cure and so hardly anyone came forward, which is understandable. Why would you want to know that you have a disease that you can’t cure and that you’re gonna die? You’re better off dying in ignorance.

By 1995 AIDS had become survivable with various therapies and treatments,

If you were diagnosed with the HIV virus. You were expected to live between 8 to 10 years from the date of infection.
