This is how the cruise line retrieves your passport when the you don’t make it back to the ship on time so they can leave it with the port authority. However they should be changing the master key and not leaving default and only security will have it. Your cabin stewart would not have the code. There is also a secret physical key should the safe lose power.

It depends if it was changed or not like mine was. I'm about to just cut it open. You can also hook them to your computer in going to try that first. Then I'm putting a big hole in it
