Fun fact: the venom used by the octopus is a powerful neurotoxin called TTX (Tetrodotoxin). This venom is also found within pufferfish and works by turning off the muscles ability to contract, having potentially fatal consequences.

The venom itself is produced not by the octopus but rather symbiotic bacteria living in the saliva glands.

However, the species is not known to be inherently aggressive and will mostly keep to itself unless threatened. Also, fatality rate is quite low and few people die to it.
