Will Tories Move Further Right After the Election?

The Guardian has suggested that, if the Tories lose the election catastrophically, it would actually mean a higher proportion of the parliamentary party being on the far right. This could be a case of Tories on the right of the party not only wanting to lose the election, in order to regain control over the party, but to want it to lose very badly.

Baroness Warsi was on the last leg and asked why she kept slagging off the government, she said it was because she was a real Conservative and the government was a bunch of fascists.

Hopefully, the Tories will become so extreme and crazy after their election defeat, they will remain unelectable for decades.

Splits in the party will lead to fewer Conservative MPs. Hopefully, Labour investigations into Tory fraud & other crimes will lead to even further reductions.

I'm hoping they end up with fewer MPs than the Lib Dems, like what happened to the Liberal Party in 1922.

I say they’ll fall back to default and pretend to be sensible, and criticise the new government for things they’ve done a thousand times worse without a hint of irony

We need PR to prevent them from coming back in the future.

Great video again Phil. If the Tories continued to move evermore to the right then hopefully they'll corkscrew themselves into oblivion.

They'd start making Hitler blush if they go much further right!

It'll only take a nudge to push the Tories full fash, and it'll have the full support of the Oligarch owned client media, the Tufton Street Gang and the major business interests; the natural beneficiaries of fascist states throughout history.
And the Tories don't need much of a nudge, they've been heading in that direction for a good while now.

Something needs to change for ever in the Tory party, let’s hope that they will be like the British Empire after WW2 , in permanent decline.

Lurch to the right? They are off the scale to the right!

If they moved any more to the right they would fall over completely, but we can only hope

There is the old saying, "When one is in a hole, it's best to stop digging". The Tory attitude seems to be: "Hand us a bigger shovel. Better sill, an excavator".

There is nowhere left for them to go. They are finished

I would love to see them come third and not the opposition, though the media would still treat them as the opposition

I hope they’re finished! I know you need a viable opposition but what this lot have done to the country makes me lose all logic.

They've lost any semblance of normality (if they ever had a shred) just like reTrumplicans have

The only problem with this analysis is that there are likely to be more MPs in winable seats announcing that they are retiring before the election, so there will be no knowlege of who the new candidate would be and their potential leanings. Given the current party membership, any moderate in a safe seat that retires could be replaced on the ballot by someone from the far right.

The further to the extremes they slither...the less chances they have to become government.

If they (somehow) manage to win, they will probably see that as justification to move further right.
