Conservative backbencher Charles Walker appeared visibly outraged over the chaos in the House of Commons on Wednesday evening, following speculation the chief whip has resigned and allegations of 'bullying' during the vote on a possible fracking ban.

Speaking to reporters on BBC News, the Tory MP said: 'To all those people that put Liz Truss in number 10, I hope it was worth it to sit round the cabinet table'. He went on to say, 'the damage they have done to our party is extraordinary', admitting he was 'livid' and 'furious'.

The point he makes around the 50 second mark about talentless people says it all.

Fair play to Charles Walker. A Conservative who seems to passionately understand that the whole point of this privileged job is to serve the public interest, not the self interest. One of the seemingly one eyed men in this kingdom of blind Tories.

Just stumbled across this. How refreshing and honest.

I think I might just of witnessed an MP being honest….. I’m buying a lottery ticket tomorrow 🎉

My utmost respect goes to this MP who has found it in himself to be forthright, honest and moral - all absent in these shameless others who have done absolutely nothing but to protect their self interest while the nation suffers.

My heart bleeds for Tory MPs worried about becoming ex-MPs and finding out that life outside in the real world is a huge struggle.

You said it Charlie! This party is an absolute depressing joke. None of the alleged cabinet have any experience in the roles they fill. What a disgusting state of affairs.

Im not one of Charles Walker's constituents but have corresponded with him on a couple of occasions and can say what an honourable, decent and caring person he is .

I'm glad he's calling this behaviour out now, but it should have been said much, much sooner. The practice of giving important positions of authority to whoever claps the loudest, regardless of their actual suitability for the role, has been going on for far too long. Cabinet positions have become nothing more than a reward for the MP's mates. More needs to be done to clamp down on this sort of behaviour.

The way this guy feels about the Cabinet is the way I feel about the Tory party.

Glad to see someone speaking truth from the party.

When a Brit is totally ragingly livid, the calmness is astounding.

Forget about the damage they have done to your party, what about the uncalculable damage that your party has been done to the country... years of austerity yet national debt has more than doubled during the conservative goverment tenure.

In 1997-1998, public sector debt as a percentage of GDP was 40.4%; in 2007-2008 it was 36.4%; in 2010-2011 it was 60.0%; in December 2019 it was 82.9% and finally Today it stands at 96.6%.

Well said, that man. It's nice to hear an MP actually speak from the heart instead of the flip chart.

A Tory MP actually speaks from the heart. You're in the wrong party, mate.

- "I am livid"
- "You look furious"

What a fabulous job by the interviewer with two short comments to just help the poor man express himself; livid doesn't do it justice.

Well, he was proven right. The Truss mini budget was really the final nail in the coffin after Johnson.

He held his anger together well though, kept his dignity and got his point across. Even though he is clearly furious.
