In this video, we’re going to have a look at exactly how the Tories are set to choose their leader, the key dates, and who appears to be in the best position to actually win it.

It feels weird seeing a tory leadership election and not worrying over which nutjob wins and becoming prime minister. Its nice

If the conservatives elect Badenoch, they will look back fondly on the massive electoral success they had in 2024 and think "boy, I wish we could win at least 100 seats again sometime in the future."

I still cannot believe they let Liz Truss be PM. Its the biggest indication that the Tory membership all have dementia

The real reason for the short contest being argued for instead of a long one was because the tory hard right (who were the only ones wanting a short contest) had a massive headstart because they have basically been openly campaigning for the party leadership for the last year and a half and talking to other mps behind the scenes

The problem for the Conservatives is that their "best" candidates were deselected by their electorate in the General Election. This leaves them only choosing from their "least worse option".

I still find it massively ironic that two of the candidates which are most "anti-immigration, " are able to do so ONLY as a result of immigration.

All these candidates are so condescending. Think they're entitled to lead the country. They get so angry if you question them on anything, like toddlers

Kemi is seen as inauthentic by the right. She seems to be more interested in winning the argument than actual policy. Massively overrated candidate.

It’s like watching a popularity contest between Death Eaters.

Isn't it weird that the campaign period for one party's leadership election is much longer than the one for the general election?

My four year plan is to get the heck out of the UK. Now is the time. Africa or the Caribbean, I'm starting to fancy Aruba, but I need where I'm going to, to be WEF-free!

The least bad option is to take a punt on one of Tugendhat and Stride as they have the least amount of baggage but are relative unknowns, still the alternatives are Badenoch/Jerrick who are culture war loons, Patel who is a wannabe authoritarian or Cleverly who is too closely associated with the last government having held several cabinet roles.

I still think none of these 6 beat Starmer in an election - the next 5 years would have to go more tits up than Boris's government for that to be a possibility.

Sunak probably hopes Badenoch wins, because he will look like Tywin Lannister compared to her.

Feels weird being here early. Keep up the good work.

Given that there are no stakes for the tories anymore, I say they go for a 5 year long leadership election.

What is up with the weird glitchy, flashy grid on the banner backgrounds?! Horribly distracting.

Kemi Badenoch was just accused of some serious bullying of staff

They all seem to want exactly the same?

Ben: “For our international viewers the 1922 committee is the name given the group of back benchers conservative MP’s….”

Me as a Brit: Nodding in agreement like I knew that but really not knowing it.

Badenoch reminds me too much of the boys' Sister Sage. It's scary.
