Sadly, this will be misinterpreted to mean we should not donate to secondhand stores although, from my hands on experience, many people who cannot afford to buy clothing elsewhere, rely on these outlets.

Likewise, other campaigns to stamp out DDT (which in tiny amounts saves many of our third world clients from debilitating diseases) and halt the construction of coal fired power plants in third world countries (which would DEFINITELY help to escape from grinding poverty, allowing irrigation, cultivation, clean water distribution etc. etc.) are lead by well-meaning or, as the speaker said, guilt-ridden Ecowarriors.

Now, it is TRUE that saturating our fields with DDT so that big rapacious agri-firms here can make even MORE profits, is WRONG.

It is true that in North America we use cars for ridiculous purposes which not only guzzle fuel but make US unhealthy because we could certainly do with a bit of walking.

How wonderful we must feel when our gasoline contains 10% corn - but this makes corn even more expensive for the poorest of the poor.

Our efforts are NOT well thought out AT ALL.

Fifth generation Nuclear plants gobble up old radioactive waste and do not spew it into the environment anymore, but for so many, the word "Nuclear" is a bad word although it is many times more efficient and less environmentally impactful than other energy sources.

But we rattle on about E-Cars while, we know that the production of batteries and the re-charging of said batteries cannot be sustained by our grid.

Etc. etc. we just don't think or plan properly.
