I forgot to mention that something that can speed up the time it takes for Ukraine to take advantage of new NATO weapons is if the Biden administration allow contractors and retired pilots and other military personel to work for the Ukraine Army, Airforce and Navy. The Hawkeye, the Typhon launcher and the mentioned stealth tanker are all placed far from frontlines and are at low risk of being hit by Russia. Ukraine could get these weapons up and running in 2 months or so if Biden administration allowed contractors and veterans to volunteer for Ukraine service. NATO countries in Europe and Canada should do the same and Ukraine could get many more weapons up and running much faster.

After 32 years as a DoD engineer i can say your analysis is spot on. Instead of fixed launchers though it may be quicker and easier to use F-16s as launchers and then use E-2 datalink. We have substituted most of our E-2Cs for the D version. The E-2Cs are still very capable AWACs aircraft/radar and are probably stored in the Mojave desert right now.

The SM-6 and its airborne version of AIM 174 are cutting edge technology. I wonder if the US is willing to spread it around when espionage might compromise it.

The problem is not how to shoot down the SU-34 bombers. Latest AMRAAM variant has enough range, the meteor missile is highly capable for that task too.
The problem was always and sadly remains that western leaders aren't willing to enable Ukraine to use these weapons.
Part of it is western armies don't want to give any adversary a chance to elaborate top western military technology.
To some extend it's fear of escalation - as always: They simply don't want Ukraine to crush Russians military with western weapons.
(As You can watch with the shameful restrictions on ATACMS).
Biden doesn't say it out loud, but they rather let Ukraine loose slowly than to see Russia loose fast.

You would need a minimum of four to six Hawkeyes, as there are service and maintenance requirements to maintain an aircraft in an airworthy condition. A standard tanker could be used, be it a KC-135 or even a CC130-H with internal bladders and refueling pods. A few of those would be required, for the same, airworthiness reasons. However, the SM-6 would be very, very useful, launched from F-16s, or the ground based TELs.

Excellent video. Unfortunately I don't see the US letting Ukraine use these missiles or airborne early warning aircraft. They forsee a war with China and are stockpiling them for that eventuality.

Thank you, I wonder if Ukraine knows about this weapon, it looks like it would be able to do exactly what Ukraine needs it to do. I think that dismissal would be able to hit the airfield before the plane even takes off, you are right this would stop the Russian glide bombs.
