MASSIVE Calculus Buildup | Severe Gum Disease #shorts

Dr. Nemeth has seen countless patients with excessive #calculusbuildup or #tartar that needs to be removed. However, this case was a bit unique. At our office, we try to save every tooth we can, but in this instance the teeth were beyond saving.

Tartar is also called #dentalcalculus It is a hard, almost cement like deposit that can stain the teeth and create a bond that can only be removed by a dental professional. A dental hygienist can perform a calculus removal.

Doing a simple teeth cleaning is not always the best option for one who has periodontitis or gum disease.

This woman had other systemic conditions that we believe are almost certainly associated with her infected gums. Gum disease, excessive calculus or tartar have been associated with countless systemic diseases like Diabetes, Cardiovascular disease, Alzheimer's, COPD, Kidney Disease, and various Cancers.

We were able to place dental implants in the upper arch. However, the lower arch is yet to be treated with All on 4.

Get your gums checked! You do not know how serious periodontitis can be to your overall health. If you have gum disease, or if you are in need of a calculus removal or dental plaque cleaning our office is here to help.

I have floss picks, xylitol gum, and act mouthwash at work. Being toothless and having bad breath and cavities is my nightmare. I love my hair, my skin and my teeth.

Heart and gut problems, too. I knew if someone who died from bacteria in his mouth because he didn’t take care of them.

I guess you could call this a differential diagnosis.

I had absolutely no idea there was a relationship between tooth and gum disease and diabetes. Thank you doctor! That poor woman!

Yes the importance of mouth heath is real. It’s the central location going to all your main organs !

She would also 100% have heart disease and be at high risk for a serious heart infection. In fact if it’s caused kidney issues I’d say her hearts likely in failure. There’s such a strong link we often send patients to the dentist before heart surgery to minimise the risk of complications.

It’s one thing to want healthy teeth, it’s a whole other thing to be able to afford it.
