Often times as a dental hygienist, patients ask me why their lower front teeth always get so much plaque and tartar buildup. And even more often - patients want to know how to prevent this from happening. Well, I've got some tricks for you!

PSS: This is not a sponsored video. I literally JUST started using these interdental brushes and I'm obsessed with how well they get in between my lower anteriors and couldn't not share this with y'all! And I wish I started using them before I made this video lol but it's okay YAY for bottom bars!

I was flossing everyday and still had this problem, my dentist told me to brush that area vertical, so instead of brushing side to side hold your toothbrush vertical and brush up and down. It works, I have no buildup there now

I have been a hygienist for 25 years. My boss ( a dentist-obviously) had me clean his teeth every 3 months. He flossed after lunch and at night faithfully.
STILL same amount of tartar EVERY TIME.
I want patients NOT to feel bad when this is their reality- it is the chemistry of the build up and the whole oral cavity itself.
Basically it is what some bodies do!!
I tell patients some folks get dandruff, some sweat more than others, SOME GET EXCESS build- up in that location

You are a gift! My mom told me growing up in the 50s and 60s “you only get one set you better take care of them“ we would go to the dental clinic pediatric dental clinic it seems like every Saturday every month growing up. I have all but one tooth. Thank you mom for caring about our dentures! My mom died with all her teeth in her mouth at 94,

I stopped having this problem when I started using a water flosser. I use it twice a day and I also use the plastic toothpicks with the tiny brush on one end . Now cleanings are a breeze, relatively speaking.

Attention: try to get a dental cleaning 3 times a year. Some insurances allow you to go 3x a year. Brush your teeth at least 3x a day and scrape your tongue thoroughly before you go to bed and use a Antispetic mouth wash. Here is a daily to do list:
1.Brush at least 3x a day
2.Floss before you go to bed
3. Use a mouthwash before bed
4. Visit dentist 3x a year

Incredible advice! Incredible timing to see this. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Just had my second dental hygiene appointment yesterday on a four month cycle due to build up on my lower front teeth. Starting fresh with your techniques, looking forward to an easier session for my next cleaning. Thanks again! ✨💖✨

Chew xylitol gum after every meal and rinse your mouth out with xylitol crystals before going to bed. You can also brush your teeth with a toothpaste that contains xylitol. The xylitol starves bad bacteria that causes plaque. You'll never ever have to worry about plaque again if you do the above.

I noticed as soon as I switched to Arm and Hammer toothpaste I never had a problem with tarter buildup on my lowers! Used to use Colgate Total and would always have tarter.

I wasnt told about this as a kid or educated about going to a dentist unless theres a huge problem, and even though I brush my teeth every day a piece of my bottom tooth chipped off at the back and I just had a mental breakdown about it so now I'm here-

I thought my bottom teeth were just unusually bad. Never knew this was a common problem.

I noticed yesterday that my teeth started having buildup in this area and the bottom two front the gum is receding and they are slightly drifted apart and have had crazy anxiety all night and all day today but this has helped ease my anxiety quite a lot. I never had a teeth brushing regime as a child as my parents didn’t really care to enforce one and then in my teens i got struck with heavy depression so even getting out of bed can be a massive chore :( im 23 now and still very depressed but to see my always nice teeth start to waste away like this it has flicked a switch i hope will stay flicked. i dont want to lose my teeth

Thank you for the vid. I learned good stuff. I've retired recently and I've really been able to take better care of my teeth. When I was working I was too absorbed with my daily routine to take care of my teeth. I've always done well, I still have all my teeth. I should have developed better routines.

Thanks again, Teeth Talk Girl .)

Wow. Ok. I’ve been brushing and flossing faithfully and going every three months to the dentist. Within three to four weeks I get the build-up behind the front teeth. I’m going to try brushing with a mouthwash before breakfast and flossing throughout the day. No one realizes how important healthy teeth and gums are to your overall health.
