Cleaning or scaling is a simple and painless dental procedure. In this procedure we use ultrasonic vibrating motors to remove the deposits of calculus and plaque from the tooth surface. Once the calculus starts forming, it pushes the gum tissues away from the tooth surface and this calculus starts forming in between and neck of the tooth like a collar and since calculus is removed at this stage, it is felt as a gap. This place was earlier occupied by the gum and a healthy bone tissue. So it is very important to get a cleaning done every 6 months so that this destruction of tissues is not much.

For all those Your gums will not magically regenerate. If healthy gum tissue was pushed slightly during cleaning or a procedure it should rebound. If you teeth had a thick layer of deposits and gaps appeared after cleaning it's likely those gaps will remain. Those gaps are the result of years of deposits pushing on the gum tissue. As a result the gum recedes. A periodontist will advise you on available procedures to repair or mask the gap(s) between teeth. A

Those who have gum missing from the top/bottom of the tooth but not between the teeth will need to have a graft to patch the area with new gum tissue from the cheek. I've had grafts. They are simple procedures. Because they are cosmetic, insurance typically won't cover the costs ($1200 to $3800 or more for a single tooth graft).

Thanks for this video. It is very short but informative. My dad is having artificial teeth at the top front side. Due to ageing, gums are receding, and there is a gap between the fake tooth and gum. Every time when he takes food, some particles get into this, and he is suffering to remove it. Is there any item like covering tooth? If so, he can wear it while taking food. My gums are not receding, but I notice that my gum between 24 and 25 feels like it’s moving anytime I have any sort of suction or pressure in my mouth.
