SNAPPING PLAYHEAD in DaVinci Resolve 16 | Quick Tip Tuesday

Wondering why your playhead in DaVinci resolve 16 isn't snapping into place? Having the playhead automatically snap to the end of clips, transitions, cuts and more can be super helpful and it's easy to turn on. In this video, I'll show you how to do it!

Another neat use for the snap tool is to use it in conjunction with markers. For example, if you are trying to align certain edits up to a beat in a song, you can find the spot in the waveform for the audio track and set a marker (with the audio clip selected) and it will put a marker on the clip which when the clip is dragged the marker will follow the clip. You can then snap edges of clips to this marker or even other markers in other types of clips.

Other question! Problem = Playhead extremely annoying ➞ stops when it SHOULD PLAY + jumps back ?

Super frustated with the playhead...

1. Dynamic trim slip mode on.
2. Press "space" ➞ it jumps BACK 5 or 10 seconds (how to turn it omg?)
3. It does not continue playing, but STOPS just after playing the current clip (WHY . how do I turn this off ?)
4. If I don't wanna deal with the problems from 2. and 3., then I can press L, yes ➞ but then, if I have a clip selected it will ERASE THE CLIP while playing. Drives me absolutely nuts.

So the only current work arounds are these

#1 press Space and then quickly click somewhere on the playhead timeline, so it does not stop. ➞ but still have to endure the annoying jumping BACK + waste time on having to "click somewhere" for it not to stop.

#2 use L to play the playhead, but still have to waste time on making sure that NO CLIP is selected / click on timeline to de-select.
All resulting in horrible editing-work-flow.

So now I don't understand one thing ➞ am I too dumb do find how to switch all that annoying behaviour OFF ? Or am I the only one who is annoyed by this behaviour, and everyone is perfectly loving it ?

this is truly annoying - i don't want to turn the snap option on and off all the time, they should give us an option separately for playhead snapping like in the premier, any idea ? how to do in davinci ?

I have been having a glitch that I'm wondering if you are too. I am currently on the most recent version of DR. When I enable snapping with the keyboard shortcut, immediately after I drag a clip against another and a snap occurs, the snapping feature then disables itself and I have to hit the keyboard shortcut again and again to continue re-enabaling it. However, if I enable snapping by clicking the button from the toolbar, then it works normally and will not disable unless clicked again. But I would prefer to only use the keyboard shortcut. Is this a known bug? Does this happen to you? Thank you.

If you're in the middle of your timeline and you want to quickly move to either the very beginning or end of your project, is there a keyboard shortcut to use instead of scrubbing your playhead along or minimizing the clips then using a bunch of arrow keys? TIA.

ARHGGHHGGGGH it's driving me mad this Davinci resolve! Please tell me, as I can't cut my video clip to music, as the video clip is skipping/snapping to frames. how do I cut clip mid frame 2/3 of frame on the timeline as I can't trim to music beat ???? it's just crazy, I have spent hours, nobody can help. I can freely move audio clip how I want it, but I want to move video clip and it skips from Fram to frame, and I can't cut it to beat! pLease help

Is there a modifier that will allow it to snap? In premiere, I have the playhead set to NOT snap to clips/thing... but If i hold SHIFT and scrub, the playhead will snap. This allows me to have it snap as I need/want. Is there a way to achieve this in Resolve?
