He had incompetent people working for him..that's why... not to mention he didn't get the Vader he really wanted either...

I have two points to make the first is that Stormtroopers have a 77% hit rate which is actually fairly high and Darth Vader didn't go into fits and destroy stuff that was his grandson kylo Ren he did however kill different members of leadership that failed him.

"I wish I had the kind of emotionally detached truly effective Sith Apprentice that I once envisioned - aaahh, my wish is granted? But where are they----"
(Palpatine looks down, sees a lightsaber blade emerge from his chest)
Palpatine: "Damn."

Conquering is always more fun than ruling , once he had the galaxy he should have put more effort into finding new ways to torment the people .

To quote Mr. Spock "Having a thing is not quite so pleasing as wanting it."

Palpatine despised anyone he controlled.

I believe that Palpatine's true dream was a galaxy completely enslaved and with thousands of dark side users serving and worshiping him as their immortal emperor

But the best he could get was a galaxy ruled by incompetents, and with some emos as enforcers

And Palpatine wound up being destroyed twice.

In the (much better) timeline, The Emperor had the creator of the Death Star tortured to death for incompetence, then cloned him to fix his screw ups. Tho' it might've been more motivation to make the clone watch...

Yet there is no actual indication that Palatine did hate his own empire. When did he ever say it or hint at it?

Emperor Palpatine was a lot like French Emperor Napoleon I. He spent years orchestrating his democratic rise to power before eventually declaring the republic an empire. While at first his empire proved strong and only getting larger, rebels undermined his might and led to his overthrow.

There are quite a few reasons why the Death Star was a failure. First off it was purposely designed to have that weak point by rogue scientist Galen Erso. His daughter lead a team to Scariff in the event of Rogue One to steal the schematic disc to give to Princess Lei thus why we got New Hope because the disc was the hope. 🤷🏿😋 Also within the Empire folks were against its construction namely Admiral Thrawn and Darth Vader. The latter thought it was an abomination to the force. I’ll get into that later. Thrawn felt that resources better spent on reinforcing the Imperial Navy and bolstering the fleet. He developed a new TIE that had a hyperdrive and shields. This alone could stopped the Rebels but Darth Sidious was to cheap to mass produce it. Finally to the Force aspect. The Force itself both Light and Dark was totally against the construction of any weapon that can cause planetary destruction. Even the Dark Side want some measure of balance and all super weapons of that magnitude are an abomination to the Force in its entirety. Luke was merely a vessel to focus the will of the Force. A lot of things working against the Death Star to blow it up.

The Death Star was INTENTIONALLY designed to have that weak vulnerability. Galen Erso did it secretly. Did you not watch Rogue One??? Do your research next time maybe...

Jedi, & Sith, both arrogantly seeking to use The Force to tip the scales of balance within their favor. For a time they seemingly succeed in their endeavors, & as a result they become increasingly hubris, & complacent in their belief that they have truly mastered The Force. However, The Force is ever fluid, like water. It seeks a balanced, steady, constant flow. Not the stagnation of “light” & “dark” ideological sides that limit its full potential, & realization.

The Jedi Council, & Emperor Palpatine, both lost everything the very moment they achieved what they set out to do. The Force, is not something that can be tamed, or mastered. The Force simply is. It isn’t benevolent, nor is it malevolent. That is up to the individual to decide how best to utilize its use, & with primitive arrogance, decide what is good, & what is evil. It is wise when using the force to understand, & respect the power of equivalent exchange, in regards to the third law of physics, any action creates, an opposite, & equal reaction, & thus balance is ultimately achieved, & maintained.

Ultimately both Jedi, & Sith, paths will always lead to ruination. For arrogance, & ruination is such paths, very nature.

To understand, & properly work within The Force, one must accept things as they are, & have the wisdom to know when to tap into such power to bring balance, & harmony to a situation, & when, to simply let go. The Force is the master, & the practitioner is always the apprentice. That, is the true Rule of Two.
