This is personal detail I really like about this game. They do not use the word magic to describe magic. Magic is in my opinion fantastical. It is my belief that if magic actually existed it would not be called magic. In this game magic does exist but they call it runes and glif.

On the topic of contact damage... Are there 2D games with combat that don't use contact damage? I generally just assume there's contact damage in pretty much anything, but I also had an NES when it wasn't an old system, so I could just be more used to older conventions for all I know.

I am excited for this game, but am I the only one who is tired of every 2D having a universal dodge/roll with I-Frames?

I really miss how the mechanics worked in the GBA/DS Castlevania games where you would MAYBE get a short backdash that had no I-Frames, and the only other way to avoid enemy attacks was to just move/jump out of the way. To me, this made those game much more mechanically interesting in that limiting the players mobility really helped emphasize the importance of using different weapons/sub-weapons in any given situation.

the gamplay looks quite similar to Phoenotopia Awakening, would you say it has a comparable feel? I remember being quite excited for that game and then the gameplay just felt... off, I'm not sure why
