This song was one of the songs that introduced me to Phil Collins. Fun fact : the singer from one of the famous band in Indonesia said in an interview, that before every show, he always sang this for a warm-up.

The song is from the soundtrack to the film of the same name.
Phil Collins was approached to write the title song. At the time the rough cut form to the movie was completed, Collins was on tour with "Genesis". Director Taylor Hackford flew to Chicago especially for a concert to meet Collins. Collins watched the film on a VCR in his hotel room and agreed.
Originally, the song was titled "How Can You Just Sit There?"
Further, this song came from the sessions for Collins' debut solo album Face Value (1981).
It was one of about a couple of songs he wrote for his first wife, who had left him. Collins wrote the entire song, while arranger Arif Mardin produced it. The string and piano tracks were recorded in New York to accommodate the tour, while Mardin recorded the vocals and drums with Collins in Los Angeles.
