I have used the Wolverine unit for a couple of years now... works very well! I'm happy with the output. The internal memory allows me to copy up to 44 slides at a time. I power it from my PC, and when time comes to upload, I use the upload option, and my PC recognizes the unit as another drive. After I copy the slides, I can use photo-editing software to touch things up.

I saw the Kodak Scanza in the thumbnail, and wondered just *how* you were going to justify that as a "best" scanner. However, that unit didn't get considered as a best scanner, so I can at least give the rest of your suggestions some consideration.

The question I'd have is how well the negative holders are fitted to the film strips. The ones in the Scanza are poorly engineered, having openings much too large for the film, thereby not holding then flat. no registration pins to hold the film square, and also due to the inability to hold the film tightly and flat, you will never be able to scan the first frame in a strip, as the film will curl right through the too-large opening. (and lets not forget the insufficiently-powered USB power adapter, which wouldn't power up the scanner. I've seen better power adapters bundled with cheap Chineseium earbuds)

The thing that I haven't seen addressed is how well the negative holders work, how well they hold the film, etc. I've figured for my Scanza I'll have to make my OWN negative holders that are properly fitted to the film.

Will any of these work for 30mm slides in a plastic casing?
