The only thing that really counts is the quality of the scan. Except for the mention of color depth in #5, this video is useless. It's like someone is reading the product page from Amazon. No mention of criteria for ranking - so I guess, Amazon purchase ranking?

I made the mistake of trying the Minolta. Please don't waste your money. This video overlooks two very obvious cons for this product: 1. The light is simply too dim. 2. it crops slides.

I have the 3rd scanner on his list - the Minolta. It does not capture the entire slide image but instead cuts part off. Do not recommend.

Every hand shown in your video should have a cotton glove

I am positively sickened by the fact no company makes one of these scanners, on which, a person can mount a carousel. I mean really?!!! WTF???!!!! It never occurred to any of these companies people have carousels full of slides? Even a projector from the stone age has the capability to manipulate slides out of, and back into, a carousel. I am absolutely dumbfounded I'm the only one in the world who has ever thought of this!! I could go on and on and on. I'm so F'ing pissed off about this, I could puke!!

I have the first one shown. It cuts off part of the image. I haven't found that to be a drawback. What I have found is that if scanning slides or film at higher ISO's (ISO 400 and above) the scanned image looks like it was shot through a screen. I guess its the film grain being digitally exaggerated by the scanner. Processing afterward through high end software can help reduce that, but then you have to re-build the detail lost in peoples' eyes. If someone who fills the frame from waist to top of head (a portrait) and it was shot on ISO 400 slide or neg film, the result is so grainy you can't even make out the face of their watch or any eye detail at all. Are others having this problem?

Is there a unit that will do this and also transfer VHS to digital? Are those only two sperate devices?

I guess no one in the video had a clue as to how to handle slides and negatives. Definitely consumer/amateur rather than pro gear.

Why would you waste ure time with making this video. You do nothing but repeat nothing again and again

The quality of the scanned photos is very poor compared to a normal photo scanner. It may only be suitable for lomography or as a photo preview to select frames for normal scanning. Scanned photos require complex processing using advanced graphics programs such as PhotoShop or free Gimp, which are difficult to use.
