I tried this hack on an Amazon no-name DeWalt format battery....no-go. These mess up like this because one cell in the pack fails. The jump start will not shore-up a bad cell long term. If it works once, the battery pack will fail again soon. It might be good once to get the job finished but NOT recommended long term.

The discharged battery failed because of improper voltage regulation. Add in various scenarios of the condition of the battery and how long it sat at a discharged point. These batteries can be very dangerous because of the failed voltage regulation. The battery might overcharge in your garage while you’re working somewhere else and burn your house down.

Wondering (out of complete ignorance) why you can’t use the positive and negative on the charger instead. I’m guessing for the same reason it won’t charge the dead battery in the first place. So we’re using batteries because they’re not going to deny it a charge?

Mine must be to far gone ..it did light up and attempted to charge but could only get one bar over night then it went dark after i took it off the charger

Took mine apart and it is so corroded the battery pack is dead. Good tip if the battery is flat, though!

Didn’t have wire so I used two razor blades and it worked👍🏿
