The Ministry of Consumer Affairs is developing a Repairability Index for consumer durables, similar to the energy efficiency star-rating system. Union Minister Pralhad Joshi explained that this index will assess how easily products can be repaired, focusing on the availability of spare parts and repair services. The aim is to help consumers repair and reuse products rather than discard them, promoting sustainability and reducing waste. Watch!

In the EU, there is a 2 year warranty on all products which forces manufacturers to produce quality products. We need this law in India too.

Definitely a need for the world.
But spare parts should not cost more than fresh pieces. All retail dealers provide compulsory service for repairs.
Offering localized extension of warranty card against any product can be a good ecosystem.

Sensible law. Spares will always be available. The ease of replacement is the main concern.

It should also consider the cost of repairable parts as some companies like apple keep their frequently changed parts like battery cost very high and making repair illogical (apple battery 12k vs samsung battery 2k for their top smartphone)
