Hey, 7 year technician here. My background specializes in Apple hardware and software, with 2 years of R&D on Apple security. A simple soft reset would have fixed the issue. This is super common after the iOS 16 release. Not only did you miss a simple solution, but also just killed the customer’s Face ID in the process. Try this solution next time and see what the results are.

This happens on other iPhones. I managed to get my father’s iPhone 11 to work again but it originally stopped working for that reason after the phone got wet. The phone was bootlooping so it wasn’t completely shut down
