Sloth bears go from 0 to batshit crazy in a blink of an eye. When you live with tigers that are 4 or 5 times your weight, you had better learn to kick ass on an epic scale.

Basically, if you encounter any bear that's hungry, aggressive due to being in heat, if it's a female that's near her babies or if you're in their territory, you're screwed. Run, lay down, hide, climb a tree- you're dead either way😭

If a sloth tries to attack you, just say “NO”. The sloth cannot legally touch you without your consent.

Eons of being hunted by tigers has caused generational trauma within sloth bears, resulting in their unpredictable aggression.

I saw one of these and it seemed quite shy to see us ( our car broke down) My instinct was that if it comes close I will jump into the car. The locals who were helping us were excited to see it and made quite some noise. It crossed the road and went away. I didn't know it was this dangerous!

How have we seriously not been shown sloth bears in movies yet?

There’s no wonder tigers run away from these creatures, not because tigers are cowardly or something, but rather because these bears are not to be underestimated at all.

what the hell are these things? I've lived my whole life without ever learning of these demons, I feel as if I've met my mortal enemy.

In India I used to find these bears often in a local bus or train. They were kept as pet by poor people, train them to dance or do gymnastics for money on the street. Now its banned and dont see them anymore. But still just imagine u boarding a train and then u find one of these right in front of you, scary af
