Windows 11 lets you create shortcuts so that you can quickly access whatever you need. Shortcuts are handy little icons you can put on the desktop for quick access to items you use on a frequent basis.

If you're switching from a Mac to a PC, one of the primary difference you'll come across is how you add shortcuts to programs to your desktop. On the Mac, you just dragged a program's icon from the Applications folder to the Desktop, and voila! a shortcut was made! On the PC, there are two kinds of programs (Desktop apps and Modern apps) and there's no single visible folder that holds all of your apps, so things are a little more complicated.

This tutorial will apply for computers, laptops, desktops, and tablets running the Windows 11 operating system (Home, Professional, Enterprise, Education) from all supported hardware manufactures, like Dell, HP, Acer, Asus, Toshiba, Lenovo, Samsung, and Huawei.

Why they took the option away to simply drag it to the desktop I will never understand. So frustrating

Who ever designed windows 11 trying to get rid of desktop short cuts by making it abnormally hard to add, should be fired

Wow. That is way more fucking involved than it should/needs to be. Microsoft should have simply kept the ability to create shortcuts by right-clicking on the app/program.

Thank you for this. I have to say, though, that Win11 sucks.

Windows 7 was sooo easy, intuitive & straightforward. Then they threw it all away and made a redesign called Windows 8 which was a disaster. Now in W11 they make it difficult to create a shortcut. WTF is wrong with MSFT?

I have an app i want to create a shortcut for, when I go search bar, I type it in, I right click, I don't get the "Open file location" option. And I obviously don't know what the file location is, so I can't use browse as well

in windows 10 all I did was right click on anything and select "create shortcut" nothing could be simpler!! But now right clicking that option is no longer there. MS drives me nuts.

Why? Why does there have to be a tutorial on how to do something so trivial like this? What was wrong with having it as an option under cut and copy after pressing right click?

Wow now we all know why all Microsoft products usually fail. This is far more steps than it needs to be.

WTF Why don't they just have right click - create like they are deliberately trying to piss us off.

you can just simply drag the app from the "All apps" list! not from the pinned apps but from the other list that shows all apps!!

Thank you for this video.

Just upgraded to Windows 11... my first Windows experience was 3.11 but I predate that with a ZX Spectrum and DOS

Microsoft has totally failed as a company because to find an answer to my issues I need to go off the platform and have to look up the answer to fix what I need to do.

Three parts of my degree are in human-computer interface, web and interface design understanding, with the third part being understanding end-user behaviour and the way end users use computer databases/look up information.

A UK library degree is far from just understanding books!

I have been using IT/PC since the 1980s and worked in universities' IT/ICT departments.

Also, I know my around training people to use computers.

To hit a number of roadblocks due to upgrades and installing Windows 10 and then up to 11 from scratch after doing it for the first time 14 years ago as Windows 7 in this PC after a total rebuild this is a very poor show on Microsoft's part.
