Elton John - Breaking Down Barriers (1981) With Lyrics!

The first track on Elton John's 1981 album "The Fox." Lyrics by Gary Osborne. The music (and theme) of the song seem to be a further development of a spontaneous composition Elton performed in an interview with Paul Gambaccini in 1980, when Gambaccini challenged Elton to come up with a tune to the famous John Donne poem "No Man is an Island." On the recording Nigel Olsson and Dee Murray played drums and bass.

Such an underrated gem. Sir Elton’s songs penetrate my heart like no other musical artist ever has. The joy he’s brought into my life can’t be measured. I owe him so much. ♥️

The "No man is an Island" composition was wonderful. I would buy that. This....I don't find it very similar.

A tremendous song from an appallingly underrated album, to me, this was Eltons last truly great offering albumwise.
