VERY depressing ending and I have completely ignored everything about the ending and replaced it with the sequel written by Peter Bork. Thank you Peter for the finished story about Sarah and David as the original version stinks! Marry your cousin--NO!!! I read your story several times and you did a great job. I am sure others will agree. It's no wonder the movie bombed at the box office the way it ended. People don't go to the movie for reality--they want the dream and that's what you gave us--Sarah and David--happy ever after. Thanks again

This is Thursday, Nov. 19, 1942. David is leaving from Atarot Airfield at 6 AM and Sarah will marry Nessim later that day. But she loves David so she has to see him one last time, at the Garden Cafe. When he says "You cannot marry anybody else" he means other than him, but when Sarah says "No, I can't", and then kisses him and says she will wait for him, she is lying to him. She knows they will never see each other again.

David’s plane was shot down during the battle of Britain. Sara married Nessim but hanged herself in the bathroom of their honeymoon suite. Peter survived the war but unfortunately Victoria had complications during her pregnancy and passed away. There was many rumors that the baby was really David’s .
