I use the base spec for office work while working in the office or remotely. I easily get a full day out of it with 50-60% charge left at the end of the day. This after Teams, Chrome, Edge, Word, Excel, PPT, Preview, Apple Notes, Calendar, Messages, Messenger and Spotify all running non-stop. The screen is great with colour that pops. Above all it never misses a beat and is ultra light and portable. Almost a perfect laptop.

I found a used M1 air with 512/16gb with only 136 cycles on the battery for 600. It still looks new. One of the best purchases I’ve ever made.

I bought one Dec 2020 and haven't regretted a thing. Currently typing on it now. Sitting at 89% battery "life" and it still gives me a few days on a single charge. Probably won't upgrade until they release an air with a 120hz OLED display

I have always bought Macs with very high-end specs so when I decided to buy this base model M1 with 8 GB and 256, for 4K video projects I was really holding my breath...Wow this thing is great and my thoughts about this computer mirror the opinions in this video, it's a fantastic machine for the money. I highly recommend it.

This was such a heartwarming emotional review. It made me cry with respect and go and purchase all the m1 MacBook Air’s in stock

Been using a base M1 MacBook Air for a few weeks now (new for $750!). Replacing a 2015 13" MBP. It's a couch serfing computer and one to take on the road. I'm frankly amazed with the computer. Appreciate its quietness and long battery life. Touch ID is unexpectedly convenient. I can edit my 4k GoPro videos on it if needed. The MBP could not play my GoPro videos, instigating the upgrade. It's so snappy and light compared to the 2015 MBP I find myself using it all the time, where my 2015 often sat unused unless I really needed it. I think I'll keep using this until base M3's drop to lows in a few years.

What settings do you use for premiere? I can’t believe you added 4 4K clips with little issues. Even on my 3080 gpu premiere gives me issues with multiple clips. I feel like I’m doing something wrong lol. Great video tho. Im looking for a secondary computer that might need to edit once in a while and the $750 price tag looks amazing

I own the 16gb ram 256gb ssd MBA M1 and it has replaced my older windows laptop and replaced my desktop computer. This fanless MBA is blazing fast still and I love using it docked through a usb C hub and hdmi-out to a 1440p monitor. Hopefully a good deal on a 4k or 5k monitor appears in the future but for now 1440p is fine with MacOS. Also, discharging the battery to around 80% and then plugging a 30w USB C Charger or higher, the M1 MBA will begin using the AC adapter as the power source instead of the battery, such a cool setting. Not sure how it will affect battery health in the long term though.

Yep, I have an M1 MacBook Air configured with 8-core graphics, 512 GB SSD and configured with 16 GB of RAM (bought it in spring 2021), and it's definitely currently my fastest and most powerful Mac on hand (since it's my only Apple Silicon Mac I currently own), making it great for video editing. I remember being blown away at first by how the M1 Air would render a video project in only a third of the time it'd take a similar project to render on my 2012 quad-core i7 Mac Mini (and that, too, had 16 GB of RAM and an internal SSD replacing the spinning hard drive). It was even great to have a Mac laptop I could run the latest Adobe Creative suite on with minimal fuss!
Hopefully some time early next year I will be buying an M2 Pro-equipped Mac Mini with 32 GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD to replace that quad-core i7 Mac Mini and become my main desktop, taking my Mac computing power to the next level, while I still use the M1 Air when I'm on the go.

Any laptop with similar age and specs as long as it’s working and fits your computing needs is still good.

1:54 fun fact that’s actually one reason why I don’t like the Air but like the Pro. now I’m a pretty big guy so I’m OK bulky and I actually like bulky and big. I don’t think I’m compensating for anything. I just like it like that. Also, one day I noticed about having a big bulky laptop like my 23 16 inch MacBook Pro is the fact that I know it’s in my bag and not forgotten or stolen.😅

I mean I'm currently using the base model to emulate, capture, and edit Gameboy, Gameboy Advance, PS1, and Sega Saturn footage. So, like, it does work pretty good for a base model. I couldn't really ask for more at the $649 I paid.
