Try butterfly the whole chicken, bind to sturdy forked stick and put in the ground by the fire as close or far as needed. The chicken will cook more evenly and quicker.
Amesome video though, doesn't get anywhere near that cold where I live so the whole thing seems crazy.🥶

If you want a warm bed … take 3-4 logs … warm them up by the fire…. Set them down on the ground.. put the bows over that and then your mat… you stay warm for at least a couple hours depending how hot you make the logs….

Next time you could try to get rid of the snow under you. You can set up a fire and after burning snow around you will move the fire. After this you have heated and dry ground under you. You can do it multiple times through the night... :)

Insulation is not about the specific material or it's thickness unless dealing with a serious heat insulator like woven carbon fiber, it is about trapped air space.

well SOMEBODY here saw dual survival lol, with dude "getting his shorts burned off him" in the same type of shelter lol. (I liked that show, it was a shame what happened to it.) It was over 70º inside the shelter, maybe 15º outside. Clear plastic lets the long wave IR radiation through (IR=heat) and the mylar on the back reflects it. I've wanted to personally try this ever since seeing the show years ago, looked genius. It was the always barefoot guy that built it. Yes, he was barefoot in Labrador, Canada where they did it. Dual survival episode 1 I think.
