Why Galaxy's Edge Needs to Be Rethemed to the Original Trilogy

First, let me apologize for the quality of the voice work, I am feeling a bit sick and experiencing shortness of breath.
======
Galaxy's Edge has a problem, in that its theme is based around Disney's sequel trilogy. The sequel films are a damaged brand that don't sell Star Wars merchandise and while it may sound crazy to even consider a retheme, I actually argue that this should happen.

Re-themeing would go a long way, but what it really needs is aliens.
it's supposed to be a sprawling spaceport but the only alien walking around is Chewbacca.

they could have a few cast members in different clothing combinations and swappable masks and gloves/sleeves to give the illusion of multiple different aliens walking around the land doing various tasks

Imagine if they actually took advantage of that wooded area to make a launched dueling family coaster themed around the Endor speeder bike chase.

The fact that it isn’t themed around the og trilogy is insane to me. Those are the most iconic movies of the franchise, those are the films you think of when you hear Star Wars.

Not to mention that they missed a huge opportunity in not theming the place around a known location. The best theme park attractions take you someplace you've always wanted to be. You go to Hogwarts! Or Beast's Castle! Or Diagon Alley! for crying out loud. Not "Beauxbatons" or "A Place Maurice might have Visited" or "A Wizarding Mall in Bulgaria". I get that choosing a location automatically negates certain choices and opportunities, but how much more excited would you be to go to Mos Eisley or Bespin or Coruscant as opposed to an unknown Baatu? There's just no emotional pull to Baatu.

I really liked your point about the music. One thing I don't like about Galaxy's Edge is there is no background music playing anywhere. I get that Disney was trying to make it as immersive as possible, but when every single other land in Disney World (except Pandora) has music playing at all times, the lack of music gives the area a weird feeling in my opinion. Like its almost too quiet. Furthermore, for me at least, part of the reason I feel so immersed in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter is that film music is playing at all times, which really gets you in the feel and mood of Harry Potter as well as makes you feel like you've stepped into the movie.

When you go to Universal, you step directly into Diagon Alley and Hogsmede, places I have seen in the movies for years. What is a Blackspire Outpost? Disney should have made an entire Star Wars Park with separate "lands" for each trilogy rather than wedge Galaxy's Edge into Hollywood Studios. 😕

You really hit the nail on the head when you said "the problem with the sequel trilogy is I don't believe what's going on, I don't buy what I'm seeing". EXACTLY!!! Right from the start you have this mega empire 2.0 where didn't we destroy that in the FINAL victory of the originals? And so much along those lines, destroying planets is really "here we go again, but how?!" And...The Force is some far off myth that's just a legend of, what, thirty years ago? Etc etc....it just wasn't believable.

My main issue with Galaxy's Edge is the cast theming is way too one sided with everyone in rebel character.
When we went to Galaxy's Edge area of the park, my brother and I wanted to find a place to buy first order themed merch- we asked a cast member who roleplayed us about getting rebel merch instead and how the first order was bad. We didn't have kids with us, we just wanted to find a shirt to buy, there was hardly anything first order or 'bad guy' themed to buy in Galaxy's Edge, sucked.

It was a huge mistake not to have Star Wars music in the land. The immersion they were going for falls flat with no streetmosphere. It's pretty lifeless compared to the rest of the park.

Having just gotten back from there. I dont mind the theming. Its the layout and pricing. It is essentially a Shopping mall looking like Star Wars with a couple of rides thrown in to call it a park. It needs more rides and more space. It also doesnt help with the Galactic Cruiser hotel announcing pricing in the astronomical amounts. 6k for a family of 4 for 2 night. THey need to add to the land, get more rides and incorporate new lands and stories and I think it will do better.

Now THAT is a re-theme I would be on board with.

I remember growing up how much I dreamed about one day going to a Star Wars amusement park. Disney somehow managed to screw it up so badly by replacing the setting I envisioned with an unrecognizable corporate brand that cares more about merchandise than immersion.

The worst part? This isn't the first cultural Sci-fi icon to be given a "land". Las Vegas had Star Trek the experience and it was emersive, You were in Quark's Bar, You were on the Enterprise D. Fans want to step right into the fantasy they know, they want to live it. What is Batu? Why do I want to go there? As a fan I never imagined what it would be like to be there. This just doesn't work. Attraction that existed 12 years ago in a Vegas hotel put Galaxy's edge to shame.

I would maybe even like a little prequel section too! For all of the...interesting problems of the prequels, they had a lot of interesting planet designs! Naboo, Coruscant, Geonosis, Kamino. There’s some neat stuff!

Disclaimer: I have not been to Galaxy’s Edge but I really don’t have the urge to. I was watching the Mandalorian over again and happened upon the GE special that came out with all the celebrities telling you about it. Near the end, fans are let in and some are crying when they see the Millennium Falcon for the first time. The whole time I’m thinking, yeah they’re emotional but it’s because they’re thinking about Han, Luke and Leia. They aren’t getting emotional seeing Rey’s Falcon

From what I’ve read on a couple Disney forums part of the reason for Flight of Passage has such long wait times is because of the ride system has a overheating problem. So instead of two theaters running at once the staff as to switch between the two every few hours or the system over heats leading to a evacuation of both rides. The manufacturer is a flight sim group that was used to their equipment only running for a few hours a day and failed to consider the fact it would be running 10+ hours with no brakes.

Galaxy's Edge is like the Wizard of Oz with neither the Emerald City nor the munchkin village.

The First Order's probably doing a bunch of sponsorships for RAID: Shadow Legends to pay for Starkiller base

I’m really surprised the hotel isn’t even og trilogy considering anyone with enough money to stay there is also old enough to grow up with the 3 ogs

Although a retheme to the original trilogy would be fantastic for guest experience and worthwhile for Disney, it will never happen as the current execs are only willing to do the bare minimum to make as much profit as possible. As long as people visit galaxy's edge and Disney makes money from it, it will not change (except for a possible mandalorian expansion, which Disney would also do the bare minimum for in order to have an attendance boost and sell more baby yoda merch)
