Let's mischaracterize Hoffman's hypothesis and then argue against it.

He's not saying reality doesn't exist. He's saying our vision of reality is obscured through our survival sensory processing

Someone doesn't understand Donald Hoffman's perception.

Hoffman never said reality doesnt exist. Hes made that very clear.

I don't think these two understand what Hoffman is saying. As I understand it, Hoffman is arguing we don't have the perceptual ability to fully comprehend reality as it truly is (as a consequence of evolution tuning us in that direction for our benefit). That's not the same thing as saying there are 2 realities. I'm not sure you can come along and say Hoffman is WRONG, with the level of confidence displayed here unless you've definitely solved the hard problem of consciousness.

Watching these two guys talk is almost embarrassing. A podcast low-water mark. I really hope you'll bring Hoffman to the show so that he can defend himself.

Hes saying we dont know reality but we can interact with reality in a way that makes sense to us.

The problem I have with people who identify as "Objectivists, " is that they routinely confuse their subjective experience with reality and the fact that their is an Objective reality which creates that experience. In this way, they arrogantly proclaim that their opinions are more aligned with objective reality than everyone else, and that we are all just living in a fantasy or a lie and are secretly trying to "deny the life force."

Basically, they lack the perspective and humility that their actually are different ways of perceiving the same situation which can all be true in different ways.

The 2 guests behavior struck me as strange. It felt more like they’re speaking to a very specific audience then that they’re trying to explain why they believe Donald Hoffman is incorrect. It felt staged and forced.

Malice: "Who's Hoffman?" Proceeds to deconstruct his decades of research on evolution and reality. #Whiff

Hoffman is so mind-warping and enigmatic with his case, yet it is quite simple, that when others speak on his conceptualization on our realm, their explications are convoluting what Hoffman's actually said.

The way Dr.Hoffman’s theory is called “dangerous” is funny here.

Michael Malice, as per usual, is arguing against a concept he literally doesn't even understand.

hoffman's views always mis-represented. you should have him on the show to explain himself

I can’t get over how poorly familiar Ayn Rand or Yaron Brook are with Kant.
He doesn’t undermine reason, he just recognised that it’s contingent on axioms which are necessary for perception and reason

Can you have Hoffman on as a guest? I don't think they are representing his ideas accurately.

Looks like this gentleman has not read anything from the professor.
