Hoffman is an intellectual beast. I've never seen him shine so brightly as he does here.

The last third of the conversation, where the cohesion begins, is truly a gem. Thank you for hosting this.

What I got out of this is that I’m stupid, but I’m mesmerized by the possibilities of what I may eventually understand.

One of my favorite talks yet!
Get these two back on to continue asap!
Everyone should definitely check out "awakening from the meaning crisis" to get more into John's perspective as well....

Cheers for hosting such beautiful minds with true epistemological humility!
This is how every discussion on science philosophy or religion should go.
Can't wait for round two

Don is such a gentleman and kind in his way of discussing. Also his praise of John at the beginning was elegant and well thought of. Inspiring.

I'm going to say that I think this is currently the best podcast in terms of trying to understand reality and existence. Curt asks relevant questions and steers the conversations into very rich territory, and the guests are absolutely brilliant.

One of the most humble, elegant, and respectful, high-level discussions, ever witnessed. Thank you gents!

Can't thank you enough Curt. Hoffman's description of John as a Renaissance man in the beginning could not be more accurate. Transformative work from both of you ❤

1:50:22 ... I'm speechless, wow. Coming into this I absolutely did not think that this would become my favorite TOE podcast. Thank you, all three of you.

Maybe it’s just because I resonate deeply with John’s way of thinking, but I found myself uninterested in Hoffman’s ideas (as he explained them in his previous appearances on TOE) until this conversation. His perspective is much more clear to me now and I’ll definitely be checking out the papers he mentioned. Thank you Curt for putting together another great pairing, and for the clarifying questions you asked throughout which were quite helpful.

I do not watch ads. I have ADHD and my focus time is precious. So, I also have YT premium. Here is my contribution for the channel upkeep since I do not watch ads and thank you for having Don Hoffman on.

John vervaeke was so great in this video, the way he's able to bring together ideas and other people's thoughts into a organized way of understanding it all. If metaphor was a person, it would be John vervaeke lol

Regarding John's statements about the parts being the same as the whole and that it's not just an 'illusion', he's correct in that all experience is the One having the experience. The experiences are real in that sense. The illusion isn't the experience. The illusion is taking the experience and then concluding that the experience implies that 'things' exist independently and outside of the conscious experience. And so, you have the One that is having experiences from all possible points of view, and then you have the belief that the One is experiencing 'things' that have their own independent existence. The latter is the illusion, not the experience.

The first video I ever watched on this channel was Hoffman´s first interview. I got hooked immediately and subsequently proceeded to watch all the available content at the time, hand always ready to hit the notification button as soon as a new TOE video would pop up. Years have passed and I still think that interview is one of the best on the channel, and a TOE classic. That said, the amount of new insight and progress DH brings into this new interview (because I´m sorry, I feel like Donald stole the show, rendering John as a second interviewer) is literally mind-boggling. Moreover, Curts shines once again making the kinds of questions that, afaik, only he is capable of. Another TOE classic right here. Kudos to everyone and thanks!

Fascinating by John. I've never connected Hoffman's theory to neoplatonism but it's right there

I think this is a great match-up and very important because each are on the cutting edge of consciousness and science; The content they both discover and clarify for the philosophical community could prove foundational to help create a codified system or framework for purpose, meaning and morality. These discussions are not just TOEs, they are the formation of a syncretic "religion". It may sound unnessecarily dramatic but the fact may just be that a lack of meaningful success here could spell an apocalyptic scenario for the near future of humanity. Looking forward to this very type of specific discussion!
