How to Deal with Intense Anxiety and Panic Attacks (Dr. Glenn Livingston interviews Michael Norman)

Veteran psychologist and author, Dr. Glenn Livingston, interviewed me on his Never Binge Again podcast, about how to deal with intense feelings of anxiety and panic attacks.

We spent 55 minutes discussing a range of essential science-based insights that anyone who regularly experiences intense feelings of anxiety and/or panic needs to know about.

Here are just a few of the NEW topics I cover:
- Why the term 'panic attack' is scientifically inaccurate and misleading...
- The core, hidden pattern that creates panic attacks...
- The surprising research finding that totally changes the way people should think about unexpected, ‘out of the blue’ panic attacks…
- What works best to end panic attacks?
- The 3 biggest mistakes even the most intelligent people make that maintain or worsen problems with panic--and what to do instead, to immediately improve your situation...
- Plus a lot more…

I think you’ll find this interview very valuable, whether you have panic disorder, have just had a few panic attacks, or have been struggling with intense anxiety that's been creating uncomfortable or scary body-sensations.

Michael has absolutely no idea how unbelievably amazing healer he is. Michael after watching your 1st episode "The Panic Mistake" I feel like my brain has automatically turned the panic button off. I can't thank you enough ❤️

This is a *highly* underrated video. It's given me a big realisation of the roots of my panic and anxiety.
Thank you, Michael.

I agree.
I have been researching for years and have tried hundreds of meditations and psychologists on you tube. plus multiple like 20 personal psychologists CBT made me worse.
My partner and father and pet all died within a month leaving me bedridden for months.
I had panic attacks at the thought of getting up to make a cup of tea.
For Two weeks I've been listening every morning every night to your deep relaxation video plus any time in between i feel any anxiety.
I've listened to ever thing on your channel plus panic free TV multiple times.
For the first time in 15 years I'm starting to have an entire day I don't feel anxious.
It's like having a holiday.

This discussion is life saving
dr Carolyn Leaf and Peter Levine are also fabulous but you have changed my life
I've looked up Milton Ericson and found his work absolutely fabulous as well
Thank you so much for sharing all your resources

Thank you Much Michael.

Please please post more you tube videos.

I have panic attacks and generalized anxiety disorder, but for 2 full days after a one-on-one consult I have felt so calm, contented, and safe. Michael is so positive, calm, and caring that you feel instantly comfortable talking to him. His method is so organic and tailored to you, that you don't realize at first what a profound effect
it is having on your psyche. I spent thousands on years of therapy to no avail. This works.

You are amazing, you have helped me so much and I'm so happy to have discovered you during my hard time. About 6 months ago I started having multiple false alarms a day, sometimes it felt like an all day thing and I felt truly hopeless. You have given me my life back. I can go to work and spend time with my family again without feeling terribly uncomfortable and trying to find excuses to leave.

I can’t thank you enough for this video!! My mother who I’m very close to has been going through multiple serious medical issues. She’s diabetic and had a leg amputated. She then had a stroke a couple months later and diagnosed with dimentia and 40% use of her heart afterwards . Had a bladder infection go septic in her blood forcing her to stay in a horrible nursing home for 3 weeks an hour drive away from me. Another UTI and presumably a seizure, given seizure medicine that made her stop breathing. They put a breathing tube down her throat and med flighted her to the big hospital that hour away again. All of this in a 6 month period. She just came back home 2 days ago from this last hospital stay.
Before I watched your video I was about to ask my doctor for anxiety meds because I have been experiencing heart palpitations and recently 2 panic attacks. My body has been on such high alert for so long now that it thinks I’m in danger. After listening to this video I feel so much more calm and in control. I’m going to listen every night to remind myself that everything is ok until I feel healed from this. Thank you for making me feel normal about this, I was about to go down a very slippery slope. I don’t fear the panic attacks anymore and anytime I have a palpitation I say to myself “ it’s just burnt toast, there’s no white bear. Thank you body for protecting me. Everything is just fine”. ❤

I swear Michael Norman’s voice kind of just has those calming effects..ugh I wish you all happiness and peace as no one understands how awful panic attacks/anxiety attacks are unless they have had one themselves.. stay strong everyone

I just had a “false alarm” last night and I felt like I was going to die. Last time I had one of these was almost 3 years ago and I was able to prevent a “false alarm” until now. With this pandemic it has brought it back. I felt horrible last night. I couldn’t sit still! I felt my heart racing, tight chest and hyperventilating. I woke my husband up but he doesn’t understand anything about “false alarms” because he has never had one. All he said was “stop worrying so much” but I feel it’s almost like I can’t help it.

This video has been a lifesaver. After listening to this a couple times, I have felt so much better in understanding what “panic attacks” are. The counter intuitive strategy that’s recommended is something that I never would have thought of and has helped tremendously! God bless these two for this, and God bless to anyone struggling with this & hope this will help!

He's incredibly gifted. I pray my journey with him is fruitful. I have much hope where there wasn't any.

Thank you both for this talk. I believe my avoidance of life’s problems caused my “false alarms.” I’m working to become the best me I can be now.

Such a heartwarming story of how you overcame your battle with ms and are able to lead a full life Michael. I’m sorry that your mom never got the same opportunity as you. X

Thanks for posting this, I've had so many false alarms the past decade, I used to go to the hospital for them but they could never do anything about them. They would last for 8-9 hours sometimes of me wretching and shaking but your videos have helped me feel a little more normal, I still have false alarms but they are alot less intense than they were 8 months ago. Thank you so much Michael!

Wow!! I certainly have been doing this the wrong way. No wonder my panic attacks are getting worse and not better.

Thanks Michael!
Thanks to you I'm not bed-bound anymore and I'm not avoiding the most important things in life: family and friends.

I was very surprised when my doctor told me to do the things you told me not to do, and he told me he knew a lot of people that have had panic attacks, I just wish panic attacks are more well known in the medical industry.

You saved my life in a single day.
Thanks for making the world a better place. ❤
