Frank Herbert: (scribbles reminder to go to a checkup)
Brian Herbert: after discovering a lost page from my father’s notes I am happy to announce “Colonoscopy of Dune.”

If you study ancient Egypt you will notice that they kept the same style (Art, building norms, language, gods... ) for more than 5000 years. the rapid change is a byproduct of our industrial revolution. I can buy they kept the same style for 10000 years after destroying computers.

It would have been funny if they made it look like the 1984 Dune.

Funny how I my hopes for this are the opposite of Rings of Power.

I desperately want Rings of Power to honor its source material

I want Dune Prophecy to not concern itself with its source material (Brian’s books)

Hopefully this show stays in line with Frank’s ideas, no evil machine empire for the butlerian jihad, less generic sci fi, etc

I had no idea this was coming, I mean I heard something but didn't think anything would happen for years. WOW. I am really looking forward to this.

The cinematographers on this show are Dune (Villeneuve), GoT and Dark alum. Whatever else happens…pretty confident it will “look” good. Given the limited shots and dialogue, I am also hopeful. We could do with a surprise hit and increase the fandom. 🤞
Thanks for all the good work Quinn!❤️

My approach: I'm happy about more Dune content - but I don't expect to be blown away... my expectation is to have fun watching it. For reference - I always assume any book-to-movie adaptations will be freely changed and interpreted and never expect a really close match, and that is fine with me.

It looks like Villeneuve’s Dune films, because David Zaslav made it that way. He got rid of the original showrunner after seeing how different this show was looking from the very successful Dune Part 1, and got a new showrunner to make this show closer to the films aesthetics. Which is why there were reshoots and different actresses left because of scheduling conflicts.

Regarding stuff looking different… ain’t these like “eternal empires” there’s gonna be slight differences but nothing massively different… they are the same exact houses.

Love your channel mainly because it's clear that you haven't become an angry man-child like so many YouTubers who start out doing lore and appreciation videos then become some political angry person who hates woke agendas and whatnot. Anyways, proud of you for staying grounded in your love for this cool shit. Cheers!

Read Dune, must be fifty-five years ago, but your videos rekindled my interest in the properties …. Thanks

a "Butlerian Jihad" would be so much more interesting than a "The Prophecy"

Its funny how it looks instantly recognizable as an HBO series but with the DV asthetics. The crane shots are like straight up out of GoT

I think it looks like the film aesthetic so that general audiences will relate the two together more

Hey, Quinn! I've never read the books and have only seen the all the film adaptations but I would imagine the outgrowth of a Luddite crusade like the Butlerian Jihad would be a continuity of culture as opposed to the rapid changes technology can bring. Feudal societies tend to be stagnant ones that consolidate power in the hands of a few like the church and the nobility in our world or the Bene Gesserit and Great Houses of the Imperium. Besides, the Star Wars galaxy of 3, 000 years in the past looks much like the Star Wars galaxy of the Classic Trilogy so it's not uncommon for sci-fi universes to adopt an aesthetic and stick to it for brand recognition. When Star Trek adopted the Kelvin aesthetic which radically differed from the Okuda design scheme, it was met with overwhelming criticism albeit that was only one of the many Kelvin-era problems.

Anything with Mark Strong and Jihae in it will have my eyeballs on it!

The one reason I think they are using the familiar “look” even though it is 10K in the past is to pull in the viewers and give them something familiar to hold onto. For those who have not read the books, the Dune movies have been tough to understand. Tying them together visually will help…

It does look like Walmart Villeneuve, but that is what catches my eye. I loved the world he created. The choice to ape his style was smart financially and given the obvious budget it really is the only choice.
