I can remember my mother having clips like that in our bathroom when I was a kid. Never knew what they were for until this video. By the time I came along she was part of the "just brush it and go" style.

Single most useful video by far I've seen ever. I'm a curly head and it took decades to figure out management. Since covid, I actually learned a little more with less effort & better products (thru this video seems like coconut oil w peppermint oil). But this instructional video is soooo practical, clear, and versatile. I wonder at the life women had more focused towards women, the shared knowledge, and instruction that we've lost by career focus. My mom's whole family was full of women then in just a brief few years we lost all those women when I was teen to young woman. No one recollected us next generation of cousins and the entire huge network of families just disintegrated. This video hints at what we could have with sharing, enjoying the shared knowledge & fun, and companionship.

I enjoyed this very much, a little bit of" me time "at the end of the day makes life a lot better.

Every time I watch a video on pin curling I begin the video thinking, maybe my hair would look cute like that. By the end of the video I come to the inevitable conclusions that a) my hair don't play by those rules and b) maintaining a set requires way too much effort.
Thanks for the "your roots may look a little greasy by day three" line, it made me laugh, because I can plaster my hair to my scalp with its own grease if I don't wash it for 48 hours.

In a previous life I was a hairdresser and I burst out laughing when the screaming teaser came in!!! I loved it! When I began schooling, we had to learn how to make finger waves as those are the basis of every hairstyle, even today's styles. All rollers are pin curls standing on end. The same with curling irons and round brushes. We called the headscarf a bubushka and all women wore them when their hair was set and also to cover their heads when they went outside on a cold day. They had to do double duty. If you want your hair to hold the teasing better, your hair needs to be layered some. The reason it doesn't hold the teasing is that the hair is mostly the same length in each section. I don't suggest you try to layer it yourself. Best left to a professional so you still have your hair when it's done. I thoroughly enjoyed this video. Those hairstyles look really good on you. Congratulations!

Wow. Thanks for this. I had no idea. Love the sounds effects of the screaming when you were teasing it lol

In the 1980s I worked with an old lady who regularly came in with her hair in enormous metal wave clips. I loved that. Also Betty MacDonald writes in Onions in the Stew about her then teenage daughters going off to school every morning with their hair in little snail curls fixed with bobby pins and returning the same way. They only had it brushed out whilst at school. That would've been 1940s/50s

My grandmother put her hair in pin curls using two Bobby-pins crisscrossed on each curl. I have photos of her as a teen where she changed her hairstyle each week and took photo booth photos to document them. Thanks for the tutorial and bringing back these memories!

This is going to be my favorite pin curl video! I knew women washed their hair once a week, but it was unclear to me as to how the style was maintained over the course of 6 days. Well, I don't have to ponder that question any longer!!! 😃 Fantastic video!!!!

LBCC also has repro 1930s curl setting lotion. I love it. Might have to look into a Lottabody. :D

All the pin curl videos I have seen so far haven't shown the maintenance routine throughout the week. This was really helpful! I have really thick and long curly hair, so it can be a pain to pin curl, but it looks nice when I do put in the work. Now I wanna cut it hahaha The tease screaming made my day!!!

My mother used to yell at me for opening the hairpins with my teeth! She said I would get a groove in my tooth. I never did . . .

This was seriously the easiest and chillest wet set tutorial and maintenance schedule I've ever seen. Every other one I've used has been super time consuming and precise which can be fun at times but usually annoying. And you have the same texture, cut, and length of hair as me which is amazing! I'm looking forward to loving this routine this week. :)

This helped so much. I had read that hair was washed once every few days and curled but the idea that you needed to reroll every night had eluded me so my curls were gone after a day and I felt like I was doing something wrong. I rerolled last night for day 2 and this morning I look better than day 1. I'm gonna get some Lotta body, I've been using Garnier fructise gel and I'm meh about it.

I was born in the early 50’s and have wanted squeaky clean hair my whole life!!

My hair is too long for these, but it was interesting to watch! It’s funny, even though my hair is naturally curly/wavy, any brushing or combing at all causes the curl to fall out. Ancient braided styles are what’s easiest for me!

Love the shirt! And this is so helpful. My hair always looks like Einstein after a wet set.

100% LOVE THIS. Re-rolling dry hair? Mind. Blown. I never thought of doing that before, and always lamented how quick my set would fall out -- it seemed like too much work to lose it after a day. I adore pincurl looks -- my hair is similar to yours, but fine-ish and a little longer than chin-length bob; I had never seen a tutorial for that hair texture or less-than-long length. I adore your sets (fluffy Day 4 hair was my JAM back in the 80s!) and you make this look pretty easy with a bit of practice. Thank You!
