According to Cambridge University Press online information

Intelligibility refers to the quality of a spoken message being possible to understand (either in regard to lexical identification, meaning, or intention).

Intelligibility includes both actual understanding and the degree of effort involved in understanding (called comprehensibility).

People (in particular our ESL teachers like Dr. Mike) typically demonstrate a great deal of flexibility in communication.

Let us, ESL learners, feel free to talk in class. Dr. Mike is remarkably flexible in understanding varying pronunciation patterns.

Back then, you told our class that you liked your job. Hope you still do!

I'm in a class taught by an instructor who replaced you when you're absent on Sept. 28 and Oct. 19, 2019. She told us that a woman from Finland had been staying within the small Finnish community in Thunder Bay, Ontario, for more than 40 years didn't know any English at all, and had no interest in learning it.
When our class was being asked "Can you get rid of your foreign accent?", I thought of your message in this video.
