Hi, my name is Michael Nielsen. I'm a professional composer/producer. My music can be heard in movie trailers, video game soundtracks, commercials, movies and tv shows. Man it's been so long since I've looked through all my old guitar magazines. It's cool to know there were other players that bought every guitar magazine they could get their hands on.

Everyone who knew me made fun of me for being a huge guitar nerd.

I used to buy Guitar Shop mag religiously when i was in high school. Still have a few in boxes somewhere. I loved that they had articles on everything from speaker impedance to pickup wiring diagrams. It was the go to for info before internet.

Jayzus... I remember flipping through that issue like it was yesterday. Where did almost 30 years go. And that Dimarzio ad looks like it could be in a mag today!

I have all of the issues of the Guitar Shop magazine. It led to my buying a lot of great gear!

I remember pouring over magazines like this, although I don't really remember this one. I was still playing live at this time, but I think I had settled on the ADA MP2 setup at the time feeding a ADA MicroTube 200 power amp and a Boss SE50 and Yamaha FX500 in the MP2 effects loop (still have all of this). I was the only one in our circle of bands using a rack at the time.
Those Queensryche live rigs are just nuts.

I think the GFTPM people made this (just called “Guitar” at the time), and Guitar World put out Guitar School. I remember seeing ads for these back in the day but just found a few of them at the local bookstore, worth it for the pro rigs

Is it possible to have a better view of Gilby Clarke's rig?
An old giveaway ad shows a mxr micro amp boost and a rack wha (Nady wireless also), is it accurate with this diagram?
Can't find anything reliable beside him using VOX ac30s, top boost channel I think, during the UYI tour.😢
He is quite unrated IHMO
